  1. When will the Parade of Sail start?

    Approximately 2:00 p.m.
    Note: Start time is subject to the ships’ individual travel speed, we cannot publish an exact time.

  2. How long are the day sails?

    Day sails are approximately two hours in length.

  3. Do small children and babies need to purchase tickets?

    With the exception of day sails, kids 4 and under do not require a ticket.
    ALL PASSENGERS on day sails require a ticket.

  4. Can we buy tickets at the gate the day of the event?

    We encourage people to purchase tickets in advance so they can go directly to the ticket gate and not have to wait in line to purchase tickets first. There is NO guarantee that any certain type of ticket will be available at the gate for purchase. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons should plan accordingly.
    Day sail tickets are very popular and limited and have a tendency to sell-out well in advance of the actual event, please plan accordingly.

  5. Where will the Ticket Gates/Entrances be Located?

    There is one Ticket Sales Gate, at Gateway Plaza Fanfare Fountain entrance at the World Cruise Terminal entrance. This entrance will also be used as Pass Gates for patrons with tickets.

  6. Is there a ticket limit?

    No, but 10 is the maximum number of tickets available per transaction.

  7. Can you explain non-transferable?

    A ticket is for one person only and must be retained by that person. Tickets cannot be transferred to another individual.

  8. What is included in the Captain's Gold Pass Ticket?

    Tote bag, general admission to festival grounds-all days, ability to tour ships, Admission to VIP hospitality Tent, front-of-line service, admission to VIP Gala and VIP parking (please note: only one parking pass will be included with each order, even if the order contains multiple Captain’s Gold Pass Tickets).

  9. Will there be a Shuttle?

  10. Are strollers permitted on ships and day sails?

    No.

  11. Are wheelchairs permitted on Ships and day sails?

    No, ships have limited accessibility to those with physical disabilities. Customers boarding ships must walk up a gangplank.

  12. Are food, beverages, or coolers allowed into Festival grounds or on-board the ships?

    No coolers, cans, bottles or beverages are allowed into the Festival grounds. Exception, if you have special food related to a health or medical condition or for feeding a baby. All items are subject to search prior to entrance.

  13. Are costumes allowed?

    Yes, patrons may wear costumes, but weapons (even plastic replicas) are not permitted.

  14. Are dogs allowed?

    Service Dogs will be permitted into the Festival grounds, but pets will not.

  15. Are backpacks allowed into the festival grounds?

    No, purses, diaper and camera bags will be subject to inspection at the entrance gates.

  16. Are cameras and video recorders allowed?

    Non-commercial photography and video is allowed. Commercial and media photographers should contact Ryan@GreenDoorMediaWorks.com.

  17. Can the ships' location be tracked as they make their way to Los Angeles?

    Yes, you may log onto http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/tallshipschallenge2014.phtml to see the progress of any ship that has tracking enabled.

  18. Will the ships be sailing in close to shore to be viewed from land as they make their way to Los Angeles?

    Each ship sets their own course based on many factors and we cannot predict if they will be visible or not.

Day Sail Boarding:
All Day Sail passengers must be dockside 45 minutes prior to departure time. Day Sail customers are responsible for providing life jackets for children less than 40 pounds. Three pass gates will be open Los Angeles Maritime Museum, Gateway Plaza Fanfare Fountain and Los Angeles Maritime Institute. Ticket gates will open daily at 9:00 a.m. Passengers gather at the registration table below the gangway of the ship for check in. Below is a list of ship locations.
