Active & IOWA Ship Tours

No reservations or tickets needed for active duty ship tours! Active duty ship tours are free and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Anyone wishing to tour an active duty ship will need to come to the main event EXPO to board a free ship tour shuttle. Ship tour lines are inside the EXPO footprint and are open daily from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Friday-Monday, May 26-29, 2023.

Ship tour lines will close promptly at 3 pm.

The main event EXPO is located at 250 S. Harbor Blvd., San Pedro, CA 90731 – directly adjacent to the Battleship IOWA.

IMPORTANT: The only way to reach the ship tour location is by shuttle from the main event EXPO. There is no personal vehicle or pedestrian access to the ship tour area.

Please wear closed-toed shoes. For your safety, flip flops and high-heeled shoes are strongly discouraged.

NOTE: Battleship IOWA tours are separate and may be purchased on site or in advance. Current enlisted military and veterans with proof of service are free of charge during Memorial Day weekend.

 

Yes, there are several restrictions that should be noted:

  • Visitors must be at least five years of age to tour vessels.
  • No strollers are permitted on the ship.
  • Visitors must be able to walk unassisted without the aid of supporting devices for access on vessels; guests must be physically able to walk through tight spaces and up/down steep ladders – an equivalency experience will be offered if desired.
  • There are no public restrooms on vessels; restrooms are located on the dock.

Requirements for US Citizens
– Acceptable IDs for US Citizens include a valid driver’s license, passport, or other government–issued photo identification
– Paper copies or pictures of ID cards or passports are not accepted

– Non-U.S. Citizens or anyone without legal permanent residence status must show a valid passport to board US Navy ships
– Non-U.S. Citizens will be fingerprinted and photographed while passing through security screening prior to boarding a US Navy ship
– Paper copies or pictures of ID cards or passports are not accepted

 

Yes, taking photos on the decks of vessels is allowed and encouraged.  Please share them with your friends and tag us at #lafleetweek. No interior photography, please. No camera lenses over 100mm will be allowed into the event.

No. Battleship IOWA tours are separate. To purchase tickets for the IOWA please visit https://www.pacificbattleship.com. Current enlisted military and veterans with proof of service are free of charge during Memorial Day weekend.

Unfortunately no, primarily due to capacity available per ship.

 

Yes, the Friday prior to Memorial Day is specially dedicated to those who have served in our armed forces. However, veterans are welcome to tour active ships throughout the weekend. Reservations are not required. Visitors will be permitted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Yes! We will have a variety of food trucks and food vendors throughout the footprint, and multiple bars to enjoy non-alcoholic beverages, beer, and wine all day.

We highly recommend closed-toe shoes—no sandals or flip flops—on ship tours, as these are active military ships. Our footprint is very large and you can expect to be doing a lot of walking. Be sure and wear sunscreen and hats too!

The Port of Los Angeles is a “No Drone Zone.” Photography is encouraged, but Unmanned Aerial Vehicles are strictly prohibited and subject to enforcement by the Los Angeles Port Police, per Los Angeles Municipal Code 63.44(B)8, which states: “No person shall land, release, take off or fly any balloon, except children toy balloons not inflated with any flammable material, helicopter, parakite, hang glider, aircraft or powered models thereof, except in areas specifically set aside therefore.”

Yes, all persons must have U.S. government-issued identification (driver’s license, passport or government issued ID card) to enter event pavilions or ship tours. Those who plan to take a ship tour must have their ID to board – NO EXCEPTIONS! IDs are not required for children under 18 years of age when accompanied by an adult.

No prior authorization is required to bring groups to LA Fleet Week. We encourage groups to attend on the Friday of the public event to avoid the crowds and large lines. If you have a large group attending (over 30 people), please email groups@lafleetweek.org with “large group” in the subject line.

The following items are not permitted into the event footprint:

  • NO LARGE BAGS of any kind, including oversized purses, backpacks, diaper bags or camera bags
  • NO WEAPONS of any kind
  • NO FOOD, DRINKS, COOLERS, or ICE CHESTS.
    • Water will be for sale in the EXPO footprint; beverages and snacks will be available for purchase at the ships, but beverages are NOT permitted on any active duty military vessel.
  • NO PETS with the exception of seeing eye dogs.
  • NO FIREWORKS, EXPLOSIVES, or FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS
  • NO SKATEBOARDS, ROLLER BLADES, SCOOTERS, or BICYCLES
  • NO GANG-RELATED, VIOLENT, OBSCENE, EXPLICIT, or SUGGESTIVE CLOTHING, or CLOTHING THAT PROMOTES TERRORISM, ACTS OF VIOLENCE or SUBJUGATION OF A PERSON or PERSONS
  • NO ILLEGAL DRUGS or PARAPHERNALIA
  • NO DRONES of any size

LA Fleet Week is located on the LA Waterfront at the Port of Los Angeles in the community of San Pedro, CA. The main event exposition footprint is located next to the Battleship IOWA Museum.

For driving directions: use 100 Swinford Street, San Pedro, CA 90731 or 250 S. Harbor Blvd, San Pedro, CA 90731.  Shuttle transportation to ship tours begins at the main EXPO footprint.

Live Entertainment

All live entertainment will occur at the EXPO footprint. Entertainment is FREE and tickets are not required.

You will be able to enjoy the music in a festival-like setting alongside numerous displays and exhibits. Limited seating will be available in the dining tent area, and there will be a dance floor as well.
